FAQs

Choosing a search engine marketing company can be a daunting task. Listed below are some frequently asked questions and answers about our Arizona search engine marketing and site optimization services, (SEM/SEO Services).

Isn’t it free to submit my site to search engines?
Yes. However do not confuse submitting to search engines with a good ranking position with a search engine. The submission process is the easy part. Optimizing pages within the site and creating high-ranking links from search engines require understanding of each search engine's algorithms and special software.

Shouldn’t my web developer have submitted my site to the search engines?
We find that most web developers do submit sites to search engines as a courtesy. In general they are not trained in the nuances of search engines nor do they have the time to learn how to do it and keep up with all of the changes.

Page Views will place your site in the top of the first page of the Google Rankings page for the key words you want. When the goals are achieved, top 15, 10, 5, 3 and 1, PageViews is paid a performance bonus.

Who is the Performance based Program suited for?
If your company spends at least $1,000.00 per month on at least 3 keywords in Google Adwords and/or Yahoo Search Marketing, then this pay for performance model could replace your monthly spend and increase your sales many times over. Not every site qualifies. There are some words and categories that are too competitive and others that don't have enough volume to justify the long term commitment and efforts we have to invest in a customers business without getting paid. Just imagine what being the number one ranked site in Google would be worth to your business!

What are your billing terms?

How long does it take to get rankings and see results?
Some search engines take only a couple of days to search through your site and others can take months. Generally, it will take 90 days to get fully propagated in the search engines.

What search engines do you optimize for?
We focus on the top directories and search engines. Yahoo, MSN and Google. These search engines account for 90+% of all searches. We also submit to several international and domestic search engines but our major focus is on the above.

What is the difference between a search engine and a directory?
A search engine is an automated process also called (among other things) a bot, robot or spider. These bots follow links and crawl through sites, index words that are unique to the page and throw out all of the generic words like: it, at, the, web, site etc. Directories have human editors who look at your site and decide to include your site in their directory or not. They are set up in categories much like you would find in the yellow pages.

How often do you submit?
If a page is not ranking well we will submit as often as every month. For well ranking pages we may not submit at all, rather letting the search engines find each page through inbound links and site maps. Submitting a page too often is considered spamdexing. Any form of spamming is considered bad form in the Internet world and can get you de-listed or banned by the search engines and directories.

How do you measure site traffic?
As we optimize sites we supply our clients with a fragment of code to place on each page of their site. This allows us to track where visitors are coming from, their behavior and our clients return on investment. To preview this software take a look at the demo we have set up here: Search engine results tracking software

How do you measure results?
We measure performance by the increase in the number of visitors we drive to your site, the numbers of pageviews generated as well as the improvement in your ranking across a cross section of leading search engines. Our focus is on bringing an increased number of qualified customers to your website. Once they get there it's up to you to close the sale based on the specifics of your product or service offering. However we do have relationships with “conversion” experts that can assist you in making your site sell.

How do you measure Return on Investment?
We report traffic as it comes from each search engine. This data includes the key phrase that was used to find you and if your site sells or collects demographic information or has a news letter sign up form we can actually deliver the cost per click and the cost of conversion.

I have heard that links are important. Do you gather them for me?
Many search engines are now using inbound links as major criteria to ranking your site. If you have a number of inbound links your site is considered popular. Search engines "surf backwards" looking for a common theme among the pages that link to you. Pages that link to you should have the same general topic as your site. We use the keywords we researched for the optimization process and use them to create searches.

How often do I get reports?
We generate reports for each campaign monthly. We deliver several types of reports including traffic reports, search engine submission reports, search engine positioning reports, and Pay-Per-Click results. All reports are stored online and are available at anytime on-line from our Pageviews on-line project manager site.

Is your technology the same as cloaking or IP Spoofing?
PageViews does not use any sort of spamming or spamdexing techniques. Many tricks have come and gone through the years. Text the same color as the page background, tiny text, repetitive keywords etc. We believe in supporting the search engines reasons for existence, namely to deliver quality and relevant content. Our technology has been reviewed and approved by all the major search engines. You have a higher risk of getting pages banned by attempting to achieve positioning on your own or by having your web developer do it.

Why do I need so many keyword phrases?
The more specific the search phrase the more qualified the traffic will be. If you go to a search engine and enter an extremely competitive word like "travel" you will receive thousands of listings. These listings include: domestic air, lodging, car rentals cruse lines etc. The best place to be found is under an exact phrase that a searcher looks for. A very specific phrase such as: "Dallas air fares" will result in a higher conversion rate.

How do you help us determine what words and phrases to use?
Once we receive a completed client information form back from you with the words and phrases you want to be found under, we conduct searches using those words. We then research top ranking competitor sites to find what words and phrases they are using to promote their sites. Next we use special software that allows us to see variations of the phrase and how many times the phrase was searched for in the past month.

Additionally, we monitor the words your competitors are buying in Google, what they are paying for this traffic and how many times the words are getting clicked on. This way we can choose the words that will produce traffic, not just get good rankings.

How much traffic will I get?
The amount of traffic your site receives greatly depends upon the popularity of your keywords and phrases as well as several other factors such as, the number of inbound links developed, opt-in mailing strategies, public relations plans etc.
